Reyes Magos
Kategori: Spaniens Guadix
Every year on January 6, millions of children around the world look forward to Kings Day , because in countries like Spain.
In Spain the families gather and traditional celebrate with Rosca de reyes cake ( Roscon de reyes).
Which is full of dried, sweet fruits and wipped cream. I have tried the bread and I always ended up with leftovers.
The children usually receive the gifts that kings bring them in shoes placed by the door or window.
In some case if the Children having been bad, coal could be placed instead
(it is an ugly-looking but sweet candy, after all)
Also Venezuela, Mexico, among others, Spanish-speaking, this day is also synonymous with gifts for all Chiquitines of the house .
However, it is important to clarify that of all the canonical gospels the only one that names the Magi is the Gospel of Matthew and in this it is not indicated how many characters they were, they are not even called kings and the only thing that ensures is that it was of wealthy characters.
It was not until the third century AD when it was established that they were three people, associating the number with the amount of gifts, that for their clothes and level of wisdom they should be kings and even they were named Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar .
Actually, the Magi , are a symbology of how pagan religions surrender to the Catholic religion, accepting Jesus as the true and only child of God.
